Serious/Razer WarCraft III pulls out of team leagues

Effective immediately Serious Gaming / Team Razer WarCraft III will pull out of all team leagues, these include:

Warcraft Premier League
NGL One
WC3L qualifier

We will not disband but focus solely on the solo results of our players. After three years of participating in team competitions with various degrees of success we’ve come to the conclusion the gains no longer outweigh the costs. The principal reason as to why we’ve always maintained a squad of at least five players as opposed to a team of two or three, as is customary in 1on1 games (which Warcraft III primarily is), is because this is the number necessary to compete in team leagues.

These extra players bring financial costs (salary, LAN support) and additional work to management with them. The benefits to us are exposure in team leagues, which is not great if you can’t compete for play-offs spots in WC3L or NGL, and the minimal winnings we’ve made over the years. We’d rather go to the same kind of approach we’ve used successfully in other gaming disciplines and as a consequence now abandon all team leagues.

Recruiting in addition the players you focus on for solo weaker players who require little no to support but enable you to compete in team leagues is not an option. As a team we require a standard of excellence from all our members and we could not meet that if we were to follow this road.

Stay tuned for further updates.
